then quit buying it!!

make your own... it's easy & fun.

homemade play dough
      

ingredients:

2 cups flour

2 cups hot water
1 cup salt

1 Tablespoon vegetable oil

1 Tablespoon cream of tartar

                             

directions:

~stir all ingredients over medium heat until very thick.
~remove from heat. 
~once the dough has cooled a bit, knead until smooth.
~add food coloring and knead into dough until uniform in color.

~store in an airtight container.

kinda thick.........................very thick

note about adding color:

i use gel food colors, but any kind will work.

i always try to smear the color inside the dough,

minimizing the amount that gets on my hands.

the kids protest (they want to do it all),

but i give it a few good smooshes

before handing it over for them to knead.

please be cautious with your countertops & clothing.

okay,

i'm guessing that many of you are thinking,

"that's cool and all, but i don't have young kids."

well, may i suggest that you
