why haven't i heard this song before today?

fourteen years ago...

at marian's birth,

missy was right there with me.

midwife linda, missy, midwife barbara {at the window}, emily

between us, we've birthed 5 babies,

but this was the only birth we both attended.

she arrived early,

just as i was having another contraction,

and my water broke the moment

she walked through my bedroom door.

she took amazing photos.

she held {and dropped} the mirror.

she smiled sweetly at me.

then, after marian was born,

she clanked around in my kitchen,

canning cherries.

she's fourteen!

 today, we floated the boise river

the girls were in river rat tubes.

those were our party favors.

rich was in his kayak,

and ned & i were in a boat together.

because i knew we had not been

river rats & rescue rangers

tomorrow is marian's birthday.

today, we bought 8 river rats for her party.

{we're floating the boise river}

in an effort to waste as much time

and precious energy as possible,

while we were at the store,

i locked my keys in my car.

{adding roughly an hour to that errand}

rescue rangers saved me.

thanks, rescue rangers.

i normally have a spare in my wallet,

but i'm still in europe mode.

{spare key has now been replaced}

i'm feeling overwhelmed.

why did i say yes to a party?

ugh.
