no-sweat valentines

we are having a very mellow sunday
finishing up our oh~so~easy valentines.

i am very thankful that i'm not
frantically baking pink frosted cupcakes
or cursing some complicated and expensive
valentine project.

ours are
~simple~
~cheap~
~easy~
~fun~

ned's valentines are

tiny peat pots with flower seeds

and heart shaped marshmallows.

 

our grocery store had these adorable pots

{from france!}

for less than 10¢ apiece.

marian is in middle school now,

so she's just making valentines

for a few special {and very lucky} friends.
{honestly, you could not wish for a more
loyal or loving or thoughtful friend than marian}

she's also bringing flowers & heart marshmallows.

 

it is my hope that you, too,
do not find yourself elbow-deep
in valentine frosting on this day.

show & tell {& a very good day}

today was a very good day for ned.

he woke to find a shiny silver dollar

from the tooth fairy under his pillow.

he brought his super adorable

baby stegosaurus for show & tell.

he made valentines at school.

he got a root beer lollipop at the bank.

he visited both of his favorite ducks.

he took a nap.

he had his friend from school over to play.

and he found a letter {with gum}

from grandma & pa in the mailbox.

there were zero bummers

for ned today.

happy dinosaur {& ned lost another tooth today}

this is ned's most recent work of art

today at school, he lost tooth #2.

they gave him a very cool

"tooth saver" treasure box.

thanks to my very sweet and generous friend,

marian has a beautiful new chandelier.

my friend's name is diane,

and she shipped this chandelier

all the way from her home in maryland.

there's more than one way to fill a frame

i bought this large wooden antique frame at a garage sale {$10}.

my intent was to have a mirror cut to fit {another $40 - $50}.

it has hung empty for almost a year, which is fine with me.

◄but►

i found this cool mirror/frame thingy at home goods {$16},

and it inspired this assemblage of seemingly unrelated parts...

{the burlap coffee bag was a gift from someone

who thought my kids could have sack races... i had other ideas}

{mmmmm.... texture}

{and to think, it used to be just a boring closet for winter coats}
