this beautiful columbine has volunteered

to grow & bloom in a very unlikely place

along the path to our front door.

first-aid sock

last sunday,

ned fell in the backyard 

and banged up his knee.

he had bruises and scratches.

it hurt.

at first, he covered it with bandaids,

which didn't work well on such a bendy part.

the adhesive removal was not pleasant.

he and i dug through our first aid supplies

looking for something that would work.

i found the cotton socks that had served

as ice packs when emily had her wisdom

teeth extracted.

it was sort of a lightbulb moment.

we cut the ribbed top from the sock bottom.

it was the perfect 

stretchy soft cushiony support

for his sore knee.

to do:

buy a pair of socks for the first aid kit.

marian's presidential inauguration

tonight was the inauguration ceremony

for next year's

eagle high school student council.

flowers for the teacher

at ned's school,

they don't just celebrate

teacher appreciation day,

they celebrate each day of

teacher appreciation week.

monday:

bring your teacher their favorite candy.

tuesday:

write your teacher a thank you note.

{tuesday was also a special teacher breakfast}

wednesday {today}:

bring your teacher a flower.

thursday:

bring your teacher a healthy snack.

{thursday is also a special teacher lunch}

{thursday is ALSO ned's teacher's birthday}

friday:

bring your teacher their favorite drink.

because an entire week

of much-deserved appreciation

is better than just one day.

it's only tuesday, and i feel like

i've packed a full week into two days.

double duty "shaving cream"

half-empty, unloved shampoos & body washes

taking up precious real estate

on the edge of the tub

clutter up my zen bath vibe.

when it comes to bath products,

having the bare minimum suits me just fine.

sudsy potions must prove themselves worthy

to be included in my washy must-haves.

for shaving my legs, soap just doesn't cut it.

i have tried using conditioner, like they say

in the magazines, but it's too slippery.

i don't like buying a separate, single-purpose

shaving cream to just wash down the drain.

i have found that lotion
is my favorite shaving cream.

after shaving with lotion,

of course, any lotion will work,
