overnight,
our weather has turned chilly & rainy.
we are happy to oblige.
we've traded popsicles for hot chocolate,
and it's time to swap breakfast smoothies
for buttery waffles.
marian is our resident waffle chef.
she tested many recipes
and finally developed her own.
she likes to make a batch on the weekend
and freeze the extras to pop in the toaster
for quick & easy waffles during the school week.
{worlds better than the usual toaster waffles}
:: marian's buttermilk whole wheat waffles ::
3 1/2 cups flour
{note: she uses 2 1/2 cups whole wheat pastry flour + 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour}
2 Tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
4 eggs
3 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 cup canola oil
mix and bake {in your waffle iron}.
top with butter, warm maple syrup, & fresh whipped cream.
we also like to add almond butter & berries {yum}.
