evening kitchen window

i love how my window looks right now,

in the fading light.

all of these things are family treasures...

the crystal wineglasses were a wedding gift

to my parents {almost 50 years ago},

the sugar bowl belonged to my great-grandmother,

the spoons, too, i think,

and the upside-down silver candlestick

{one of a pair}

was also one of my parents' wedding gifts.

the agates & other stones,

i collected over many years

at agate beach (trinidad, california).

we learned about mary cassatt.

peaceful, restful portraits.

lots of mothers & children.

lots of hats.

and then we made our own hats.

plaid hats, at that.

yes, ma'am {& ned got a letter!}

{i am so proud of him!}

ned loves to get the mail everyday.

it's usually boring stuff.

but today, there was a letter in the box for him.

it was from this sweet girl.

inside the letter was a fortune telling fish.

it said that ned is in love.

ned has an ear infection.

he has to take yucky medicine.

but, no spoonful of sugar for my boy.

he likes to chase his amoxicillin with

crunchy balls

{whoppers}

and he doesn't care that they are leftover from halloween.
