flowers, a fort, & some food

my christmas amaryllis bloomed and faded.
i left it planted in my windowsill.
the pods beneath the blooms have now split open,
revealing these tightly-packed, papery seeds.
beauty at every stage along the way.

on friday, which was rainy & cold,
ned declared it perfect fort-building weather.
he spent the weekend under the kitchen table.
he even slept under there both nights.

to redeem myself after a weekend
of soda & scones,
i made a smoothie,
some green juice,
and a big pot of split pea soup.
