can you believe it?
our sweet duckas are doing so well.
{pip is on the left, patito is on the right}
we see them every day,
usually in the early evening.
we have introduced them to some of the neighbors
who now keep an eye out for them.
i have told those neighbors about you
sweet readers
sweet readers
who follow our ducks from afar.
it seems to me
that pip & paptito's fan club is growing.
i love finding them,
like needles in a haystack,
among the other ducks.
at first, we scan the flock.
then, we call to them,
"pippa! patito! duckas!"
and they come right to us.
it warms my heart each and every time.
it will never, ever get old.
we bring them cracked corn.
we feed the others, too,
though our ducks have better table manners.
when i'm sitting in the grass with both of them
(and 40 or so of their friends & relations),
feeding them or watching them swim,
i feel so peaceful.
maybe this is the satisfaction
that a mama duck earns:
1. being open to receive a miracle,
2. working hard to make it happen,
and then,
3. having the pleasure
of looking over your shoulder
and counting those very miracles
as your own blessings.
