lots of cooking

a sizeable portion of my time is spent making food.
i like to see what we've got on hand
and then turn it into something really good.

much of the food below started as
delicious local produce from our weekly csa share.

last night,
i made asian kale slaw (again),
but we really love it.
(this is just the base, but it looked SO pretty)

today,
i have made a veggie soup (stew, maybe)
i'll post my soup formula soon,
but this one has onions, garlic, green beans,
cabbage, zucchini, chard, chick peas,
canned italian tomatoes, oregano

pesto
(adding KALE - per our farmers' suggestion)
here's the trick to adding kale:
plunge it in boiling water for about 1 minute,
then squeeze out all the water you can & coarsely chop
before adding to the usual pesto gig.
{basil, kale, garlic, pine nuts, olive oil,
parmesan, half & half (makes it creamy),
salt & pepper.}

my goal is to create a "deli" in my fridge
so i don't have to cook tomorrow.

here's a peek at the people i cook for

{hello, handsome!}

me & my ducka.

I love seeing the things you cook. Even more, I love seeing you and ducka. That last picture belongs in the teepee.
